Collisions

Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table,
No one can find the rewind button girl
So just cradle your head in your hands.
And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe, just breathe...

We all want acceptance and understanding. Sometimes we all need somewhere to sit and scream and cry or laugh. But it always feels like we're waiting for something, and when that time comes when we no longer have to wait...

Today I reached a mental state from which I never wanted to leave. Somehow nothing mattered anymore. School or college, grades or anything. All that mattered was that I was lying there with my beloved and staring up into the bamboo sky, wondering what right I had to be this happy. Especially when the world seems to be collapsing around me, collapsing like a house of cards that had no reason to stand in the first.

Maybe we're all like that. Running on a collision course just so we can meet somebody, make contact. And then there's the poor souls who only have glancing hits, and speed through life unknown and unloved, never changing people or being changed. Maybe when we make contact we rejoice simply to know that we're not alone. Aren't we all scared of being alone, when it all boils down to it?

And when I'm sitting here and I can still smell him on me, turning over the taste of this newfound happiness, I think to myself that this is what we're meant for, this sharpness and acuity of sense. When we collide into somebody we find who we are. Maybe we'll find that we're not all we thought we were. Sometimes we'll find we're not fat and ugly and stupid. Perhaps when we collide we begin to learn why we're here.

How can you see a life that's not worth living? How can you see the future? You can't know, or see, or fortell. We all just bumble through our restless days, eyes on the ground or on each other, never turned upon ourselves for fear of finding somebody we never wanted to know. So live the days, drink the water, find the beauty in the breakdown. We all know what lies at the end of the tunnel.
